Review: Los Angeles, CA
“Katie Frieden is a terrific actress with a powerhouse voice and beguiling movement... Surely if Frieden were living in 1920s Chicago, she would already be a triumphant stage diva and not the lost, wannabe Jazz Age singer and mechanic's wife Roxie Hart. Nonetheless, Kate Frieden's numbers are some of the most engaging and compelling in the show. "Roxie" brings down the house.”

“Roxie Hart, played by Katie Frieden, entered the Pantages Theater last night with all the pre-trial publicity she could garner and had the audience in the palm of her hand. And young Frieden held it there all night. She was a joy to behold in all her different shades of character… Frieden had an inside wink for us in the audience all night. She kept smiling at us like a girlfriend, always including the audience in on her escapades.”

“Crucially, Katie Frieden is superb as Roxie… She’s Driven by the kind of restless, ravening ambition that undergirds at least part of the American Dream.”

“Katie Frieden had such beautiful dance technique and expert comedic timing. I loved her bright, floating voice and her dancing flair, especially for the finale number. Both Frieden and Floyd's unique styles yet perfect vocal blend with each other was enthralling; the casting was simply right on the money for this production.”

“Katie Frieden, who plays Roxie… it’s authentic, honest work that moved me greatly by the time we ended up with the final number at the McVicar’s Theater, showbiz having trumped justice once again.”

Review: Washington D.C.
“We Both Reached for the Gun is another musical standout as the character of Roxie (a superb Katie Frieden) becomes a ventriloquist's dummy in this incisive comic, rhythmic song about the altering of facts. Ms. Frieden also excels in "Me and My Baby" -which is a master class in comic pacing and comic deception. Ms. Frieden is the epitome of the Bob Fosse essence.”
